Ninni Baeckstrom
Ninni Baeckstrom grew up in Swedenand has been part of the Charlottesville arts community the past 30 years, teaching and exhibiting sculptures and mosaics. Her work can be found at institutions and in private collections around the US and in Europe. Her public art sculptures and mosaics can be seen in the city, at schools and in parks around Charlottesville and Albemarle County.
Ninni explores the human experience, incorporating symbol and emotion. Her art is original and touches the primordial.
Over the years she has worked with cement, wood, bronze, and clay, often adding mixed-media components. Her current stoneware sculptures portray animals and birds, and archaic busts of people from around the world.
