Inspired by the beauty found in nature, I combine both form and function in the baskets I create. I seek to elevate the commonplace basket to an art form.

I enjoy creating organic forms. I use a continuous twill weave to achieve rhythm in my baskets. I gather grapevine and honeysuckle in the woods, boil them to remove the outer bark, and form them to fit the basket, using each as both the rim and handle.

In my functional baskets, I emphasize simplicity of form with function, using both twill and plain weave, with minimal color. I particularly enjoy weaving double-walled baskets. I grow basketry willow in my garden, and I am learning the time-honored skill of weaving baskets from willow. I want to move away from weaving with reed to weaving with willow, producing sturdier, heirloom-quality baskets. My goal is to create baskets with understated elegance, and to always keep learning.
