From novels to movies, and even children's books, the adventurous soul is always depicted with a reliable crossbody bag to carry maps, provisions, and tools for their journey. Maier Mercantile creates modern bags designed for those who embrace adventure, ensuring they're ready for whatever the day holds. Each bag is handcrafted using repurposed apparel leather or scraps sourced from a furniture company, and vintage or pre-loved belts are given new life as bag straps.
Over the years, I've faced increasing difficulty finding enough belts to complete all my bags. The search for these treasures brings me joy, especially as I travel across the country for shows. But when I started running low, it became clear that I needed to expand my quest.
In the last seven years, I’ve built a network of kind-hearted individuals across the United States who help me in my hunt for belts. Connecting with people who share my passion for discovering that perfect, soft, beautifully worn-in vintage belt has turned out to be just as rewarding as the hunt itself.
