I like to listen to music when I’m making jewelry. Lately I’ve been alternating between classical piano and jazz piano music. I’d like to think that my jewelry is at the intersection of these two sounds.

What interests me in designing jewelry is creating the unexpected. Using precious metal forms, fine gems, and small diamonds, I aspire to find rhythm and balance in each piece I make.  Having no formal education in metalworking or jewelry design forced me to learn by trial and error. It also gave me the opportunity to use tools in untraditional ways and to develop my design sense separate from an instructor’s influence. Challenged to draw, I’ve always worked directly with metal to express my ideas. I’ve been a studio jeweler for the last 52 years.
