Abigail Treece
Abigail Treece is an artist who works in clay and wool. She makes cozy functional ceramics and whimsical tufted pillows and rugs.
In her tufted work, she uses natural fiber yarn and sustainably sourced fabrics. She works with yarn a painterly approach to bring her drawings to life with color. After the tufting process is finished, a backing is applied to the rugs and pillows before they are either sewn or the rug edges are bound.
In her ceramic work, she uses a pottery wheel to make functional ceramic wares. Each pottery piece includes a sgraffito design. Some pieces have intricate sgraffito work across the entire piece, but every piece includes a surprise sgraffito design in the foot ring with her signature.
Her tufted and ceramic work often takes inspiration from nature, especially from the insects found outside around her studio.
