New artisan 2019
Charlotte Friese is a fashion design graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design who creates contemporary apparel, accessories, and Micro-scape wall hangings.
The artist's love of landscape and natural form continuously proves to be a source of unfaltering inspiration throughout her work. Respect for nature and our wildly amazing planet leaves her committed to the eco-conscious use of materials within each of her creations. Art and function meet in her Wool and Ridge handbags. The contrasting hard and soft elements found in nature are realized through the use of wool and wood. Each is a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art. Artisan techniques including decorative stitching, raw-edge finishing, eco-printing, hand-felting and natural dyeing are incorporated throughout her apparel designs. The use of natural fibers aids in an exploration of texture, color, and form that ultimately lead to? Or lends themselves to? Or “…color and form in easily…”? easily wearable and aesthetically timeless designs. Her Micro-scape windows are a meditation on the harmonious and ever-evolving beauty and form within nature. Delicately singed silk shapes embellished with different minerals come together to create a sense of the infinite within these original wall hangings.
